Gelatos are watercolour chalks that can be used on a range of various surfaces, including paper, cloth, canvas, and wood, due to their creamy, smooth nature. Gelatos are available in a variety of colors and may be found in a variety of sizes. Gelatos may be changed into watercolors by brushing them on, smudging them with your finger, or stamping them on.
- Gelatos are water-soluble crayons or watercolor crayons that may be used on a variety of surfaces. Aside from these, I also have a bag of distress crayons and two packs of memories watercolor crayons, all of which I use very frequently. I use them all, but I chose Gelatos for this post because I believe they are the most well-known of the watercolor crayons on the market. (and I’ve been putting them to good use recently)
What are gelato colours?

What are Gelatos crayons made of?
The result of mixing color, wax, and oil is a luminous painting. You will receive a pigment stick with a creamy, soft feel, which is also known as Gelatos. Gelatos are acid-free, odorless, and water-soluble, making them ideal for desserts. When coupled with water, they may be used to make a watercolor media, or they can be used to generate a watercolor medium on their own.
Are Gelatos permanent?
When applied with water, gelatos become permanent once they have dried. You shouldn’t expect them to be permanent if you apply them to a nonporous surface or if they aren’t entirely dissolved and dried after application. If the product is not used in conjunction with water, it may rub off. We recommend applying a sealer to any surfaces to which Gelatos have been applied to ensure long-term protection.
What are gelato pastels?

Can you paint over Gelatos?
Working in my Junk Journal today, so I applied some Gesso to the paper before beginning to create art. After that, I activated the water-soluble Gelatos by painting over them with more Gesso to make them more vibrant. Gelatos may be used in a variety of creative ways. Before painting over the Gelatos with Gesso, you can smear them about with a foam brush or your fingertips.
What is the difference between distress crayons and gelatos?
Gelatos are available in a wider range of hues, as well as pearls and metallics. Distress Crayons are designed to coordinate with other Distress products. Distress Crayons are quite easy to work with. Distress Crayons ‘move’ less than regular crayons and layer beautifully.
Are distress crayons similar to Gelatos?
It is possible to use the blending sponges to blur them together for a truly lovely and smooth appearance. Alternatively, you may use your finger – I included this as a contrast to the distress crayons. Gelatos are also water soluble, as previously stated. In terms of how they behave under water, they’re very similar to the distress crayons.
Ingredients: While both gelato and ice cream are made with cream, milk, and sugar, authentic gelato contains more milk and less cream than ice cream, and it does not typically contain egg yolks, which are a common ingredient in ice cream.
